Our Story
"Good food and friendly folks — with a passion for handcrafted and locally sourced."
Root Café is a gathering place in the heart of Fennville, Michigan — where every dish is scratch-made with fresh ingredients and a genuine love for this community. We believe great food starts with knowing where it comes from.
Our in-house dining is thoughtfully spaced within an art gallery, creating a one-of-a-kind atmosphere that's as nourishing for the soul as the food is for the body. Dine in, take out, or settle into our outdoor patio — complete with gazebos, firepits, and an outdoor chef's cooking station for events.

What We Offer
An eclectic fusion of flavors — sandwiches on house-made bread, samosas, bibimbap, salads, soups, flatbread pizzas, and breakfast options. All scratch-made in our kitchen.
We create our sausage with locally sourced pork. Our brisket, pork, and chicken are locally sourced and grass-fed, then slow roasted in house. Farm-fresh ingredients in every dish.
Grab a glass of wine, a small-batch roasted espresso, a handcrafted cocktail, or a handspun milkshake. Something for every mood and moment.
Stroll through our connecting art gallery, Fernwood 1891, and relax in our casual café. Our in-house dining is thoughtfully spaced within a living art gallery.
Dine in, take out, or dine outside on one of our two outdoor dining areas. Our back patio features gazebos, firepits, and an outdoor chef's cooking station for events.

Beyond the Café
Root Café is more than a place to eat. Our dining room lives inside a working art gallery — a space where local artists and the land come together. We're proud to be connected to a broader creative community in southwest Michigan.
